Why Lambda CHi?
My decision to join Lambda Chi Alpha at the UW many years ago was one of the two most life altering and best decisions of my life. The values taught in its incredible Ritual, my immediate involvement as an Associate Member, (there are no pledges), the attainment of life goals, and the lifelong friendships that I made have been central to my life ever since. I am reminded daily of my good fortune.
Anonymous - Lifetime Brother
"Joining Lambda Chi Alpha was easily one of the best decisions I've ever made. With endless academic resources, exciting social events and philanthropy, and many brothers I consider my second family, I can't imagine spending my college years any other way. Living in the chapter house the past four years has truly shown me that this is indeed a brotherhood for life.”

Even though I was one of the newest members, at my first chance I ran for recruitment chair and secured the majority support of the fraternity. To have such an immediate leadership opportunity, and impact on the direction of the fraternity, is extremely unique to Lambda Chi, and is encouraged for everyone. In 2017, we formed a new foundation of guys to keep the recruitment process going. I type this now as an alumnus of UW and Lambda Chi, and have seen these foundational members come full circle.
The fraternity experience is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. As recruitment chair, I had to learn how to empathize with men from entirely different cultural socio-economic backgrounds, which is an extremely valuable skill set as a professional beyond college. Every day in sales I draw upon the social skills I honed in the fraternity when identifying prospective clients, qualifying them, rapport building, and growing customer accounts. Other co-workers of mine that do not have the fraternity experience I’ve observed to be far less outgoing, not as socially competent, and far more apprehensive in their communicating styles. Ultimately, you get out of the fraternity experience what you put in. If you take it seriously and push yourself, you’ll be miles ahead of your peers upon graduation.
